Riots & the Conservatives

Yesterday was January sixth twenty twenty.

Capitol Hill was overtaken by MAGA and other Trump supporters. They stormed the capitol, partied on the steps, took pictures on the senators’ seats and the main podiums in the rooms. They had bombs and they fought with the police. They threatened Congress members.

The day started off with Congress and Pence going in to validate Joe Biden as the next president. It was Trump’s hopw that Pence would overturn the votes and hand him a re-election, Pence does not have that power, but Trump is not educated in the legal field at all. The MAGAs and Proud Boys were out in DC the day before causing a ruckus, but yesterday is when the rest of their squad arrived. Trump had been instigating the violence even before the 2020 election, and his gang has tried everything to nullify the outcome of the elections.

The rioters are giving no regard to spreading the coronavirus. The numbers will increase after this. I understand the rioters’ frustration with the virus, but they are not the only ones who have to deal with it. They are not trying to stop the spread because half of them do not even believe that the virus exist. The other percentages either believes in it and want herd immunity or they just flat out do not care. I remember earlier in 2020, while Black people were fighting for their lives, the MAGAs were protesting because they had to wear the mask when the virus was unfolding. Trump was egging his base on the whole time.

Black people brought up the very true realization that had this been black people or BLM, then they would not have even made it to the capitol steps. Instead of four people dead, it would have been about 90. There were no rubber bullets nor tear gas. They showed pictires of the steps heavily guarded just months ago. The news stations are still calling them “protesters” instead of rioters. That was a showcase of white privilage at its finest.

People make the statements that 2021 is starting off bad and that this year is going to be worse that 2020. I personally had an okay 2020, but the masses around me are dealing with homelessness, eviction, unemployment, and the mystery of an unknown future. On top of that, the deadly virus is increasing each day.

I agree that the Trump administration did a horrible job with the pandemic. They did a horrible job with racism. They did a horrible job with just about everything. The past four years actually showcased just how cowardly and undemocratic many of the Republican senators and representatives are. Thye let Trump run rampid. We the people will remember this. The last four years also emboldened the White Supremacists and Proud Boys and other racist groups.

The events are still unfolding today, and I am keeping up with the different media outlets. First Chuck Schumer and now Nancy Pelosi are calling for Trump to be removed from office under the 25th Amendment. The presidential inauguration is in 13 days, and I am very interested in seeing how the last days of Trump’s presidency will go. He is trying to go out with a bang, but will he instead get something else in return?

Trump is a sore loser. So are the people in his base.
